Fire Island Junior Lifeguard Program 2026 Registration Now Open!
Train with the Best Lifeguards in the Country!
Open to youth ages 8-16 years of age. The course will teach water safety, introduce participants to the duties and responsibilities of an ocean lifeguard, practice life saving techniques, identify dangerous water conditions, learn to use rescue equipment, and participate in friendly competitions.

Location: Atlantique Beach, Fire Island
Dates: July 4, 11,18, 25 August 1, 8,15
Time: 7am - 10:15am
Participants will take the 7am Ferry from Bay Shore Maple Avenue to Atlantique and the 9:50am Ferry back to Bay Shore. Ferry Tickets are NOT provided with this program.
Ages: 8-16 years old
Fees: $225 residents, $275 Non-Residents. (no prorating)

Prerequisites:
- Swim in front crawl continuously for 100 yards
- Tread water for one minute..
- Submerge and swim a distance of 10 feet underwater.
- Float on your back for 30 seconds or swim backstroke for 25 yards.
NOTE: This course will NOT certify anyone to be a lifeguard. It will build a foundation of knowledge, attitude and skill in preparation for the NY State Level 1 Ocean Lifeguard Test. You are encouraged to check with your health-care professional before participating in this program.
